    With high unemployment figures, employers could be forgiven for thinking there is an endless supply of capable, skilled workers to replace those who leave. The truth is replacing employees can be expensive and time-consuming. Departing employees take with them valuable business knowledge that could fall into the hands of competitors. They also cost businesses through loss in productivity and recruitment expenses. According to research by Mercer, the cost of losing an employee can equate to up to 150 per cent of their salary.

    Recent research by Firebrand Talent showed 71 per cent of employees under 35 believe two years or less is an acceptable length of time to stay in a role. The challenge for business owners is to convince workers to stay for longer.

    Content marketing in Australia has been picking up pace for a couple of years now.

    Google tells us the search trend for the term 'content marketing' is on the up, while according to one research report, spending on content marketing in Australia is set to increase by 61 per cent, with 12 per cent of respondents saying they will be 'significantly increasing' their budget this year.

    Obviously this augurs well for the nascent content marketing 'industry' in Australia.
